We are excited to get our “Teen Plus” group together for a meetup at the Phoenix Zoo on March 11, 2017.
We will be meeting right in front of the zoo near the curb. Look for someone holding a Sharing Down Syndrome Arizona sign.
Entrance fees are $7.00 for adults age 14 and older and $5.00 for children ages 3 to 13. Also, if you’re interested in the Safari train, the cost is $1.50 per person.
The zoo requires us to pay all at once, so we will need all parents to bring exact money. We will NOT be able to hand out any change.
Please bring a picnic lunch or additional money for lunch and come and meet a new friend.
All people with Down syndrome must be accompanied by a responsible adult age 18 or older.

As your children attend school it is vitally important that you know your child’s rights and to understand the importance of them being in a “least restrictive environment”. Our children are amazing mimics and learn so much through peer tutoring. LRE means being included with typical age appropriate peers with positive supports in place. They learn how to learn and behave appropriately when placed in an environment that naturally teaches those important lessons. I promise you, after you hear Vanessa Di Carlo and Susan Marks teach you, you will walk away feeling so very empowered!
What: Special Parent Meeting to teach about LRE (Least Restrictive Environment)
When: Thursday, March 23, 2017
Where: Mesa Student Services Building
1025 N. Country Club Dr.
Mesa, AZ 85201
Why: Because you are your child’s voice and most important advocate
