Each year we over 2, 000 friends and family come to join this amazing easy one-mile stroller accessible walk. We walk to honor someone we love who has Down syndrome! We also use this walk to promote positive acceptance and inclusion for all people who have Down syndrome and to raise the funding we need to continue to provide the level of parent support program we have provided over the past 17 years. These programs include…giving all 46 birthing hospitals our uplifting and positive New Parent Welcome Folders and personally delivering our New Parent Gift package. ($100.00 value with books, CD and even our very boastful bumper sticker, “My Kid Has More Chromosomes Than Your Kid!”), Monthly parent support meetings, Newsletters and amazing all around parent support. (English and Spanish)

Soon you will be able to (online) create your very Buddy Walk team www.sharingds.org and the team who raises the most donations will be awarded a beautiful framed photo of Gentle Heart by gifted artist Nancy Nöel. (A beautiful young girl who has Down syndrome and angel wings) AND be given our Leticia’s Legacy Award. (Note: Ask your employer about your companies “matching donation” program for charitable non-profits.)

We are thankful to the many parent volunteers (including our own Executive Director, Gina Johnson) who serve at no cost so that the money you raise can go directly to continue to provide our wonderful parent support program at NO COST to families.
